The Orient Express Lounge is the most elegant pub in Pueblo Marinero, Costa Teguise. The marines’ structure forms a pleasant and unique attraction point for those looking for some nightlife in this quieter tourist resort in Lanzarote. Characterized by its traditional architectural contours, you can enjoy a choice of numerous dinning options, beers and a variation of cocktails whilst having the pleasure of listening to some live music.

Orient Express Lounge is situated in an enviable plot from which one can perceive the bustling activity of it surroundings. The oriental influenced building consists of two distinctive heights with plenty of nooks and crannies where you can converse quietly. Thus, on the lower floor there are three separate rooms. We especially like the farthest from the bar, with a noble couch, very comfortable and in which allows for more intimacy.

However, the Orient Express Lounges main attraction is that of its terrace on the top floor. Surrounded by greenery yet with a view of the village you completely disconnect, especially due to the fact that you have the choice from one of many cocktails or a tea from the extended menu.

Our attention is drawn to the numerous brewery dispensers that are available here: Guinness, Strongbow, Magners, Budweiser, Corona, Heineken and the Canary Islands, Dorada and Tropical. All are between 2.50 and 3.50 euros. The Bar lounge is firmly committed to offering a varied international cocktail menu at good prices…. At only 5 euros. For one euro more you can enjoy Cuban mojitos, Bora Bora, caipirinhas, daiquiris and wild monkeys. Mixed drinks such as rums and whiskeys (however not gin), range between the price of between 5 and 8 euros.

Orient Express Lounge is very welcomed in Costa Teguise. It does not attract young adults that are looking for crazy or wild parties, it is quite the contrary. It has an adult environment, allows for conversation and appeals to those who prefer to indulge in the magical nights of Lanzarote. The music played is soft chilled out rhythm tunes, jazz and some classic pop rock.

San Miguel is one of the first and most renowned terraces of the island in the nightlife of the traditional area of Puerto del Carmen (La Tiñosa). It opens early in the morning as a cafe or tapas bar. It’s a very convenient spot for morning coffee or afternoon tea for tourists visiting the seaside life of La Tiñosa.

At night, San Miguel transforms itself in a tapas joint that can be accompanied by the first drinks of the night in this protected spot of the coast of Puerto del Carmen. The décor is that of a sports bar, the music selection is a happy companion to the bubbly atmosphere created by the many glasses and pitchers of beer. There is a large beer selection which tastes much better if you are listening with Kurt Cobain, Jagger and the Rolling Stones or Eric Clapton playing on a huge flat screen.

Mostly the people who enjoy San Miguel are tourists, until around 10 p.m., which is when the locals start showing up. Fridays and Saturdays are the best nights, and the bar becomes a really cool place with nice atmosphere and awesome music ranging from pop rock, house, disco and even some classics of the movies featuring Frank Sinatra o Rod Stewart.

Beer costs around € 2 – € 2.5. Mixed cocktails are around € 6.

Terraces: Café Del Mar, Marea and El Mirador.
Live music: Cuatro Lunas and Café Del Mar.
To dance: Jungle and Marea.

The nightlife in Playa Blanca is built around its promenade, taking advantage of its extraordinary location near the bay with views over to Lobos and its neighbouring island of Fuerteventura. A night in this tourist resort on the southern coast of Lanzarote is wrapped in a special charm mainly due to its superb weather, min 20 Celsius and its gentle breeze that cools down the atmosphere. Due to its well-known breezy profile it helps those to get their body moving in the selective night spots in Playa Blanca.

As long as we live the Playa Blanca night away we must not forget to visit the luxurious jazz club Cuatro Lunas (Four Moons) in the hotel Princesa Yaiza. The venue has nothing to envy to any New York club. It surprisingly has a modern décor, is rich in colours and amazing lighting. Enjoy individual performances on the piano accompanied with instrumental jazz and vocals on a Thursday, Friday and Saturday. It is a charming location of a very high standard that can be enjoyed between 23:00 and 02:00am. The wine and spirit menu is extensive but please be aware of the prices as some can be quite dear. For those whom are music lovers we would recommend that you visit Cuatro Lunas (more details).

The nightlife in Playa Blanca extends well into the night. After the first round of drinks in either Café Del Mar or Cuatro Lunas you could opt to then go onto The One`s terrace. This is one of the trendiestbars within this tourist area. In the heart of Marina Rubicon with literally your feet in the water, you can enjoy a nice atmosphere of a variety of music and perhaps enjoy a dance. Just a stone´s throw away from the marina you have Jungle´s Bar. This is a nightclub appealing to the younger generation that plays disco music until the early hours of the morning. The dance floor is complemented by an ample terrace overlooking one of the main town beaches (more details). This disco, as well as Marea´s terrace, are the only two places in which the night gets longer in Playa Blanca and remain open until 05:00am. Marea´s chill out terrace features a charming chill out disco inside its precinct.

Puerto Del Carmen is the oldest tourist resort on the island. With over 40 years in the industry, the first pubs and clubs of this era formed the first circuit of Lanzarote´s night crawl. As today stands there are two major nightlife areas, the plaza of El Varadero which is in the town of La Tiñosa and the Avenida de Las Playas.

The town square, connected to the fishing port, is a peaceful part of Puerto Del Carmen. Completely sheltered from the wind, the night is perfect for either tapas, a dinner at a nice restaurant or a round of drinks on the frontline sea terraces. The San Miguel Brewery has remained a hot spot for years and still is, therefore is an excellent starting point when out for a local drink. It is lively and has a varied music background such as: pop rock, house, disco and the classics from the 20′s. Nearby although with somewhat less atmosphere you have the Heineken bar.

The bustling boulevard of Puerto Del Carmen is right on the border of the majestic waterfront and unfolds a myriad of pubs; Café Del Carmen is a particular favourite as it is a café bar that creates varying vibes. The night starts by listening mainly to disco music, but also a bit of funky, chill out and pop. Also we would like to mention the hard work that goes into the kitchen to prepare that special evening meal. Many residents opt to enjoy a dish from the menu and then go on to enjoy a drink on the terrace.

However, as we prefer to start the night off with either some live music, a concert or even some rock and roll then why not visit Charlie’s Live Music bar, here you have it all! Pints fly as the chords of the great classics of rock and roll are played, here you will have time to listen to the Beatles, Rolling Stones, The Doors, Joplin, Hendrix, Simon and Garfunkel, Dylan, Guns N Roses, U2, Led Zeppelin, Bob Marley, The Police and many others who have had an impact on our lives.

Now well into the morning, the night is focused around Playa Grande. Ruta 66 is a well liked open promenade terrace. If it wasn´t because we were next to the beach, under some palm trees or beneath a sky full of stars as we would be here, we would be enjoying a drink in London’s Soho or in the Dublin Bar. There is a small dance floor where mostly disco and pop music is played.

For those that can hold out the night that bit longer into the early hours of dawn must visit our two disco bars. In our opinion, the best party environment is in the disco bar Tropical. Settled in fine decor and fantastic illumination, the dance floor is scattered with youth. The dj mixes disco tunes according to the party atmosphere with the latest and most frequent music beats being that of both disco and techno. The atmosphere at La Tropical is that of the youth of Puerto Del Carmen. On the same strip is the disco bar 928, another which opens until the early hours of the morning.

The only question is when is best? At noon, in the evening or in early hours of the morning? What to do, what to do… At noon you can enter La Ola (Puerto Del Carmen) and you go into a new world. Youngsters with their chests on show catching the sun whilst sipping a cocktail and overlooking the vast ocean view whilst on the terrace. The first impression are that of enriched furnishings, large oriental beds, hammocks, loungers, and a row of sofas that run down the sides of the garden/pool. Everything is comfortable, has good vibes, is funky, includes Brazilian sambas and results in a chill out. What’s more, La Ola has a direct access to the delightful coves of La Peñita. All this leads you to ask: “But boy, what were you doing lounging on the couch at home watching the Tour De France until 17:00?”.

La Ola is located on the bustling boulevard of Puerto DelCarmen. It is open all day from breakfast time, and worksvery versatile. You can also enjoy it as a sandwich bar, like a culinary corner (for tapas, lunch or dinner) and then a place to enjoy a drink at night. As the sun sets, the place remains with charm. Enjoy the illuminated pool, the spotless white terraces and the Hawaiian palm treessurrounded by attractive people between the ages of 30-45 years. The premises extend into its interior. Inside you will come across a majestic room that is decorated withshades of red and countless Buddha and eastern oriental statues. It is a place filled with varying seating furnishings surrounding the immense dance floor, each and every one being just as comfortable. La Ola worksperfect attracts crowds on night outs and creates success. Inside there are three scattered sturdy bars that allows for space and efficiency reducing queues. Despite the numerous amounts of people within the premises the service is quick, the beer is varied (at 2 and 3euros) and the cocktail menu is extent (at 5 and 7 euros).

La Ola´s visitors are heterogeneous. Tourists mingle withthose from Lanzarote and the thread runs between the mellow music of chill out, funk and Brazilian sambas, and the strength of the latest techno and disco. Pop rock music is another popular theme and allows you to listen to updated versions of old pop songs.

The Pueblo Marinero complex is one of the main nightlife areas in Costa Teguise. The architecture, traditionally Canarian, gives this place a special charm. Within the structure, there are shops, restaurants, pizzerias, terraces, and pubs that guarantee a dynamic range of activities all day long. The atmosphere is eminently touristic and there is a constant army of children running across the spacious patios, while the adults relax in animated conversation with a cocktail or a mug of beer in hand.

It is very well decorated and boasts very comfortable furniture. It stands out for the smooth chill out music during the early hours of the evening and morph into disco, house and dance music later on until morning comes. This club in Costa Teguise closes at 4 in the morning. Its location, in the middle of a tourist resort, explains its variety of beer, costing between € 2.50 and € 4, and its cocktails, costing between € 5 and € 7. The combined drinks come at a reasonable price, between € 4.50 and € 5. It’s ideal for a night out to chat.

Cocktail Bar Hook has made its bar a tribute to the world of pirates. It offers great music, such as: soul, pop, and rock which comes directly from music videos. The terrace is very pleasant.
It is one of the most calm and protected spots in the Pueblo marinero complex. It also has a wide range of beers, between € 2.50 and € 3.60. The main cocktails, daikiris and mojitos, cost between € 6 and € 7. The mixed drinks cost between € 4.50 and € 5.50. It closes every day at 3 a.m.

Around these main night spots you can find Bar Chispas and The Snug. Bar Chispas is small, but nice. It makes the most of the views of the majestic interior patio of the Pueblo marinero complex. The Snug is an Irish pub that was converted from the old central pavilion of the area of Las Cucharas mall. Its interior is designed in the style of a British tavern, and surrounding the pavilion there is a semicircular terrace. The main music played there is country and folk, and beer is king in this pub.

Surrounded by eastern winds, the chill out bar Buda, which is located in the village of Puerto Calero, benefits from the weather advantages that are received on this part of the island. You are guaranteed aparsimonious night, completely shaded from the lanzarote winds and overlooking the magnificent front of yachts in the marina. The symbolic figure of Buddhism pervades the décor of the lounge. Buddha’s of all shapes and sizes can be found everywhere.

Incense flutters through the rooms of the Buddha, which along with colourful lighting and a selection of decorative elements give you the sensation of being in the Far East. We are attracted to the large back room and the comfortable furniture: Sofas, armchairs and chairs to recline and relax and robust conversation.Equally on the outside terrace it is possible to enjoy small group gatherings. Modern sofas, summer chairs, couches and sofas can be found on this traditional terrace. Maybe some are found to be a tad lumpy yet there are plenty of tables available and privacy can be achieved if wished.

The atmosphere in the Buda is very relaxing. It is a bar that appeals to those generally between the ages of 35-40 years and usually tends to be tourists staying in Puerto Calero or in the nearby tourist resort of Puerto Del Carmen. The relaxation becomes fun and debauchery during the nights of Thursday, Friday and Saturday. The back room usually serves as the dance floor however it does not have a cocktail bar as does the Cuatro Luna’s and we do feel that it should be taken into regards. It remarkably achieves an overallappeal in all areas. Here´s why… It has a good choice of liquors (at a good price too) and has a brief but selective list of champagnes and wines. Mixed drinks cost between 6-8 euros and all cocktails are 7 euros.A small beer (Tropical) costs 2euros and a pint 3euros. The beer on the barrel not surprisingly however, of great demand imports such as Miller, Budweiser, Guinness and German Franziskaner and are between 3 and 4 euros.

Generally the background music will be that of disco, chill out, remembers mixed pop, rock etc… There will be some nights that are quiet yet non stop in Puerto Calero whilst many that are hard beat non stop. When the night is quiet you will maybe come across five couples talking quietly to one another, the Buddha’s are seeking Nirvana quietly, the incense is hovering … what is therefore that disturbing sound? Yet within half an hour it’s back to its delicate chill out feel, a whisper sublime, just what we wanted.

Nights of bohemia and excitement. We don’t know if the Bohemian music group Navajita Plateá was inspired by the evocative lighting and color of La Cueva Lagomar to compose the beautiful chorus that brought them to the forefront of the national music scene. What is certain is that every night, from Tuesday to Sunday, a little of that bohemian essence floats in the air around the small village of Nazaret. The enormous opening in the cliffside where the facilities of Lagomar are situated, including the restaurant, the terrace-swimming pool, and the in-cave disco, adds an air of mystery to the place, which is interconnected by dozens of small caves that are spread throughout the building.

This bar, La Cueva Lagomar, is one of the few places in Lanzarote where quiet couples can enjoy an evening alongside those searching for some volume. Sounds of lively music, from jazz and blues, to soul finishing with fusion, are lost within the natural surroundings of this night spot. Whatever you are looking for, you can get comfortable and let yourself go in the small cozy caves with their tables of wood and stone, or in the fresh air of the terrace with views of the swimming pool surrounded by tropical vegetation, which separates the restaurant from the disco.

In the cave itself, the space has been fully utilized to give shelter to the night owls looking for a place to spend the evening. From the height of the cave, the DJ dictates the rhythm of the night. A little salsa, some rock and roll, blues classics, and a lot of jazz are normally on the music menu. The bar is long and a comfortable place to sit. It is well stocked with a variety of liquor and cocktails such as mojitos and caipirinhas, which take the enjoyment up a notch for even the biggest party animals. La Cueva Lagomar doesn’t conform to the traditional combination of a spectacular place with high prices. There are incredible places where they don’t charge € 9 for a rum and coke. This bar is one of these places, and it is open from Tuesday to Sunday from 9 p.m. until the wee hours of the night.

THE SCENE:

Cuatro Lunas is a deluxe jazz club open to the public at large Princesa Yaiza Hotel Playa Blanca, south of Lanzarote. Its entrance is on the promenade of this tourist resort, at the height of Playa Dorada, in the Plaza Princesa Yaiza. The decor is modern. Rich in color and light kit. The overall local conspicuous by its comfort. A variety of spacious rooms with comfortable chairs in groups, in pairs and singles. The artist or jazz groups figure prominently in the center of the room. The sound is perfectly adjusted. Comes clean, it squeaks and attaches to the rhythm of a smooth conversation.

The bar and its accompanying service overall tone of the club. The menu of beers, liquors, wines and glasses stands out for its variety, but should pay attention to prices, very high, both in beer (three to four euros) and cups (6 euros minimum). The mood moves from the quiet of Thursday, with a delicious piano pampered by skilled hands, and the contagious ritmillo group bets on Fridays and Saturdays. The musical is modified by season, but maintains the structure of solo, instrumental band and vocal group.

There are very few spots on the island due to their ideal location that allow you to view the sunset. In winter, from El Mirador you can witness aspectacular sunset in the centre of the horizon between Lanzarote and Fuerteventura. During thesummer the sun borders the southern coastline of this tourist destination. Also, due to the location ofthis modern chill out bar, situated in the MarinaRubicon, it gives us a permanent connection to the sea and ships that sail daily.

El Mirador is a modern building which at the same time is simple yet elegant. It operates as a snack barand a chill out bar, each with its own designated area. The chill out bar has a desirable terrace consisting of wooden floors and exquisite furnishings. Settle and enjoy on one of the many comfortable couches an aperitif before heading to Casa Brígida for your dinner. Feel the soft chill out atmosphere that flows with the music. The music is at just the right volume allowing you to converse at the same time. Enjoy one of our recommended cocktails; Caipirinha and Bloody Mary. The drinks menu is fairly limited in comparison to other places that are less modern however, the prices are very reasonable and would cost between 5 and 6.50 euros.

We are a little disappointed with the lack of beer onoffer. On offer you have the choice between La Peroni, Tropical and Dorada however; we feel that they do not fit the bars profile. At least La Peroni is a fine Italian beer and goes down smoothly. The spirit menu consists of pretty much the same. In a place such as this one wants to drink Hendricks gin however it is not the case. The wine list however issomewhat different. You have the choice of variouscava’s and champagnes that are of high quality and at a reasonable price.

Once the sun has hidden behind Montaña Roja and dusk begins to fall, Playa Blanca lights up. The view is magnificent. It has struck nine o clock at night and the DJ has appeared. From this moment until 02:00 am those who are night lovers of El Mirador can enjoy an exquisite chill out night. In our opinion there is no better place in Playa Blanca to start the night off. The general atmosphere is of those between the ages 30 and 40 years old. Later you could go on to enjoy listening to jazz in the luxurious Cuatro Lunas (Four Moons), dance the night away in the Jungles disco bar or enjoy another chill out session on Marea`s terrace.
