THE SCENE:
This Costa Teguise favorite hosts various styles of jazz concerts under the watchful gaze of portraits of musical giants like Mick Jagger, Duke Ellington, Miles Davis and Tina Turner. Live performances start at midnight, Tuesday through Saturday. Jazz… mi madre! or Jazz… my Goodness! is known for its relaxed atmosphere where you can enjoy a conversation while the sounds of the guitar, sax and clarinet solos linger in the background.
Jazz Mi Madre opens Wednesday through Sunday at about 10 p.m. Videos of concerts are played on a large screen prior to live music performances. It attracts a 30 to 50 year old crowd. The spacious bar area is perfectly situated so you can enjoy the live music, and comfy chairs arranged in an “L” shape help make a lengthy sit-down more comfortable. You can expect to stay awhile; the bar stays open until 3:30 a.m. There is not a huge selection of beer, but it’s quite accessible at only € 2 a bottle. There’s also an abundant selection of cocktails, liquors and champagne. Apart from jazz, the bar offers a wide music selection, including funk, bossa nova and blues.
What to do before and after: Jazz… mi madre! is located in the heart of the Costa Teguise tourist area. You can enjoy a nice bite in Don Tango, El Bocadito or some toasted bread snacks at Sommelier. For another drink, just a few steps away is Pueblo Marinero. During the earlier evening, the terrace at Villa Toledo on Playa Bastián is a great option.
