The Casa de la Cultura Agustín de la Hoz in Arrecife will host, from September 5 to October 18, 2025, the exhibition “You Have Also Rained. How to Transit Pain” by Canary Islands artist JUIN. This immersive project invites visitors to inhabit pain through contemporary art.
A journey through pain
Curated by Elena García, the exhibition is structured into four chapters —denial, entry, confrontation and calm— reflecting the emotional stages of pain. Inspired by “Choose Your Own Adventure” books, the show invites the public to construct their own narrative through painting, installation and audiovisual pieces.
The experience
Spaces are not merely walked through, they are inhabited. Each room becomes an emotional labyrinth where the viewer faces vulnerability and the body as an expressive vehicle. Gesture and color are presented as tools to explore what cannot be expressed with words.
Institutional statements
The CEO of the Centres of Art, Culture and Tourism (CACT), Ángel Vázquez, highlighted that initiatives such as Equinox and JUIN’s exhibition confirm the Cabildo’s commitment to contemporary creation and to “art as a path for emotional and collective exploration.”
About the artist JUIN
JUIN (Lanzarote, 1994) graduated in Fine Arts at the University of La Laguna. His work moves between muralism, abstract painting and illustration. He has exhibited at the Lanzarote Art Biennial and participated in international residencies. His solo shows include Onironauta (2018), B-asalto (2020) and Salsa Rosa (2023). Vulnerability, the body and pictorial gesture are central axes of his practice.
