MAP OF LOCATION:
On the first line of the Puerto Deportivo Marina Rubicón (Playa Blanca, Lanzarote) is the spacious terrace that harbors the facilities of Café del Mar. Its location is strategic for those who are seeking some relaxing time for contemplative leisure. On the clearest days the neighboring islands of Lobos and Fuerteventura look like postcards belonging to this cafeteria, with the enviable dunes of Corralejo as the backdrop.
Comfort is synonymous with Café del Mar. The way tables are arranged on the terrace allows enough privacy and the seats, in general, are comfortable. The tones of sea blue and white on the horizon are predominant in the décor. What differentiates this terrace from anywhere else is the cozy main room, of rectangular shape and different meeting areas equipped with comfortable sofas and individual couches.
The characteristic identity of this line of cafeterias comes from its musical offering. It mixes disco rhythms with acid, acid house music and acid jazz. Even though at times, some songs might be dissonant with its surroundings, in general the rhythms are attractive because of their freshness. Various music genres are showcased during the concerts offered by the house.
Café del Mar has a short aperitif list (Martini, Campari, Cynar and White Bermet). Along with that the place offers a wider choice of liquors, the so-called waters of life, rum and vodka, that allow us to taste the fermentation of sugar cane juice that is not abundant around here.
The wine list on the other hand is discrete and expensive; there is not even a Ribera del Duero, all the attention being bestowed on Riojas. The coffee menu is also not very extensive, and it is excessively expensive, this substance being combined only with liquors, Russian coffee (with vodka) or Jamaican coffee (with rum). The tea menu is also lacking a little in care. Only one option is possible: tea. That’s it.
What to do before and after: A short walk away we can enjoy a session of jazz chords at Cuatro Lunas. We can find night life at Jungle’s and Marea.
