Beach Cueva de Doña Juana (Puerto del Carmen)

The beach Cueva de Doña Juana is better known as the beach of the hotel as it joins with one of the first hotels that was ever built on the island, Hotel Fariones (late 60th century). Cueva de doña Juana is one of the most peaceful coves in this tourist area. As well as its neighboring beach Pila de la barrilla, they are away from the crowded beaches of Puerto del Carmen such as Playa Blanca, Matagorda and Los Pocillos. In addition to its outstanding conditions in terms of its quality and excellence of its black sand and its appealing water, it is also known for its superb sheltering of the constant wind that blows in Lanzarote. An assurance of a peaceful atmosphere is also helped by the constant shine of the sun in this part of Puerto del Carmen.

Thus, the beach Cueva de doña Juana allows one in comfort to go for that early leisurely morning walk, build sandcastles with the children or go for a swim in a natural environment. Being only 60 meters long can lead to confusion. Days that there is a low tide results in the beach appearing bigger thanks to its remarkable width. However, when there is a high tide there is little difference due to the lying natural stones on the black sand and in the coves.

The only downfall that the beach Cueva de doña Juana has is its difficult access. It can be done however by following the natural stoned walkway that links Pila de la barrilla with this cove. To arrive on the beach you must make your way down some stoned steps that you will notice have eroded over time.
It makes sense therefore why the beach is as popular as is the hotel. Even though the walkway is of poor condition it does not stop tourists nor fellow citizens in visiting and enjoying this magnificent beach whether staying in the Hotel Fariones or not.

Another aspect of Cueva de Dona Juana is its proximity to a small but wonderful port. When there is a high tide you have the perfect haven for tranquility and a relaxing swim, not only this but due to the leisurely space it is possible to jump into the water at various heights and in different positions. Try either to dive head first, feet first whilst holding your nose or by jumping in as if you were a water bomb causing a great splash as you hit the water.

Summary

60 meters of exquisite bay in the tourist resort of Puerto del Carmen. Quiet beach and a peaceful and gentle sea.
