Francesa is the most desirable beach on the south coast of La Graciosa (archipelago island of Chinijo, a mile northwest of Lanzarote). Beautifully surrounded in a rural area and completely isolated, its sand and spectacular waters are of an outstanding quality. With an average width and a length of 435 metres the beach is divided into two strips by a very low natural stoned dam. This beach has a distinctive feature and that is its complete calmness. The deafening silence is only disrupted by the seas breeze from the river that separates Lanzarote from La Graciosa and the ever faithfull seagulls that fly freely in the sky whilst overlooking Famara.

Francesa can be reached either by foot or by bicycle (50 and 20 minutes from Caleta del Sebo which is the capital of the archipelago island Chinijo). Due to its proximity it is one of the busiest beaches on the island however due to its spaciousness and the numerous natural stoned coves you are ensured a peaceful day on the beach.

As a neighbor of the magnificent beach La cocina (a mere 10 minute walk), Francesa does have a cooler bathing area due to its open orientation to the seas breeze. In any case, if you decide to stay on this stretch of coast you have the option to firstly take a dip on the coast of LaCocina first thing in the morning as this is when the sun´s rays are a lot weaker and then to move the towel and umbrella onto Francesa beach by midday. The pleasant air does not affect the seas water. Its splendid and visual richness appeals from afar, the sea is like a plate, spacious and deep enough for a superb swim.
