Cider is the main, but not the only, drink at Las Viñas. This is a pub that offers various snacks to its guests. The decoration is typical of a traditional restaurant, but there are some original details, like using wine barrels as tables for tapas.

It is also interesting that the grill is in sight of the clientele. All around the snack room there are some round tables, surrounded by grapevine roots and some still-life paintings about the world of cider. Talking of this beverage typical of Asturias, the cider served at this tapas place in Playa Honda is acceptable, although some may be a little unflitered.

The appetizer and dish menu is very rich and varied. The kitchen achieves some good ham croquettes and tortu (a kind of corn dough) with refried champignon mushrooms and chorizosausage. Cider, apart from its regular use, gives a special touch to many dishes. It is not bad with cod (a specialty of the house), although cod is much better grilled, as it acquires a better taste. As a complement to the snacks, we can also taste the good offer of chuletones chops, entrecote or sirloin steak,and solomillo filet.

The wine list is acceptable in terms of quality and prices, but rather limited. Among the desserts, the clientele especially likes the cheese cake, which in our opinion, can be improved, and the arroz con leche or rice pudding, a dish that is typical of Asturias.

Everything is fast at Sidrería Las Viñas. The quickness and kindness of the service is surprising in a space that, on the eve of festivities, is full to the brim. This success is precisely what becomes the main disadvantage of the place. So many people in such a small space with so little soundproofing sometimes makes it difficult to carry on a conversation around the table. After lunch or dinner this is also a good place to have some drinks. The house has some good music that keeps one company during these after-dinner hours.

What to do before and after: Multicines Deiland [Deiland Cinemas] (showtimes) is very close to Las Viñas. Arrecife is a few miles from this cider joint, so combining dinner here with the night life of the capital is ideal.
