La Garita Beach is the main beach of Arrieta, which you will find on the rugged northeasterly coast of Lanzarote.
It is almost one kilometre in length and is sheltered by thestrong winds that prevail within this area.
The main path in which you enter the beach has a small and cosy terrace serving snacks and dishes. This beach is equipped with showers and changing rooms.
The beach is safe however we must be very careful when bathing with children as occasionally waves can reach between half a metre and a metre in height.
On the northern border of La Garita Beach there is a bather’spier which is linked by bridge to the centre of the village. This is an ideal alternative in the summer when the beaches are packed with bathers.
When there is a gentle breeze the river is an ideal bathing spot due to its mild climate.
The heat is not so dry thanks to the permanentand soft trade winds that accompany it.
The beaches amenities include a volleyball court and a children´s playground within its vicinity.
A family friendly beach
Whilst on this part of the island why not move further north and take the opportunity to visit the tourist attractions of Jameos del Agua, Mirador del Rio, Cuevade los Verdes and the Cactus Garden.
In addition, Arrieta specialises to some of the best fresh seafood restaurants on this coast of the island.

How to complete the day
This coastline offers a wide choice of bathing areas, like for example the small cove in Guatiza or the famous nudist village Charco del Palo with different natural pools and coves.
If you want to have lunch you will find excellent restaurants just one step away from the beach. In the village of Arriete you have the famous restaurant Amanecer, where also the King of Spain ate many times.
And a MUST SEE is Jameos del Agua.
