We would like to advise that the Beach Janubio is kind of dangerous due to the very strong currents on this southwest coast of Lanzarote. So this area does not have the best swimming conditions.

The red flag is always present, indicating that you should be aware of the dangers when visiting this beach.

Not surprisingly, this magnificent stretch of just over 800 meters of black sand is a short distance from Los Hervideros, with its fragile space there can be seen swaying submarines looking for a way out.

Soaking your feet in the seas shore is the best alternative to a safe bathe.

Even though the sea is rough, ironically due to the intriguing colour of the black sand it portrays a sense of quietness and wellbeing.

With little use, Janubio is a peaceful haven of relaxation and contemplation.

Located in a massive and majestic half crater with beautiful rock formations of many different colours it’s an absolute MUST SEE on the island.

Its relaxation is due to the lack of noise and that of only the prevailing winds and comtemplation because of the proximity of the majestic Salinas de Janubio.

Its green lake and its dense black sandy beach result in an eye catching explosion of colours that is worth seeing.

Arriving by car you will find a parking area a little bit before and can then walk down to the beach.
IMPORTANT: Strong ocean currents. Bathing is not recommended.
