Lanzarote’s seafaring July is at high tide. The Fiestas del Carmen move across the island in a staggered sequence, town by town, and the 2026 edition reaches its midpoint with three celebrations behind it and the two longest still ahead: La Graciosa keeps celebrating through July 28, and Puerto del Carmen takes over from July 27 to August 9.

Already Celebrated: Teguise, La Graciosa, and Playa Blanca

La Villa de Teguise opened the cycle with a program running Jul 2–16, launched by pregonera Catalina Rosario Díaz Herrera, and closed on the 16th with the solemn mass and a procession through the historic quarter accompanied by Teguiband — the old capital honoring the patron saint among five-hundred-year-old streets.

La Graciosa held its big day on the 16th as well: the maritime procession through the waters off Caleta de Sebo and the floral offering in memory of those lost at sea — the gesture that captures better than any other what this fiesta means in a village that lives from it.

Playa Blanca completed its own this weekend. After Thursday’s land procession with the Yaiza Municipal Band and the Guanapay folk group, Sunday, Jul 19 brought the main event: the maritime procession across the southern bay with more than 50 fishing and sport boats, the Virgin carried ashore on fishermen’s shoulders — and, as the calendar’s unexpected closer, the World Cup final on the big screen in the plaza.

Still to Come: La Graciosa Through the 28th, Puerto del Carmen From the 27th

On La Graciosa, the program opened by pregonera María Elena González Vega continues through July 28 with open-air dances, children’s activities, and popular sports in Caleta de Sebo. And Puerto del Carmen closes the cycle in style. The Ayuntamiento de Tías has presented a program running July 27 to August 9, with Plaza del Varadero as its center and a declared purpose: recovering the seafaring identity of La Tiñosa, the original fishing quarter from which the island’s biggest resort town grew. Two weeks of processions, open-air dances, sports, and family activities by the sea, opening with the pregón. We’ll publish the program details in the monthly agenda.
