The Fiestas of Nuestra Señora de las Mercedes in Mala (Haría) take place from September 17–24, 2025, featuring a full official program for all ages: the romería, the Baile del Romero, evening dances, workshops, competitions and religious ceremonies.

Saturday, September 20 – Romería & Baile del Romero

• 11:00 – 3×3 basketball tournament at the school court
• 19:00 – Romería with Malpaís de la Corona (start at the former post office, Calle Cangrejo)
• 21:30 – Baile del Romero with snacks, election of Romero/Romera Mayor and performances by El Golpito, Sondemar and Son del Norte

Sunday, September 21

• 12:00 – Family & friends day: water inflatable, Tapas Fair and performances by DJ Juan Hernández, Café con Leche and Son del Norte
• 18:30 – Draw and start of the envite card championship

Monday, September 22

• 17:00 – Tortilla contest (submit 15 minutes in advance)
• 18:00 – Surprise bingo
• 18:30 – Final of the envite championship

Tuesday, September 23

• 17:30 – Wine & cheese tasting with Bodega La Grieta and Quesería Abuelo Machín (limited spots; WhatsApp registration: 676 962 823)
• 20:30 – Fashion show by Top Queen boutique and performance by Yoriel Cabrera Viñoly

Wednesday, September 24 – Patron Saint’s Day

• 19:30 – Sung Mass by choir Alborada and procession

• Arrive early for the romería, the Baile del Romero and the Mass/procession (peak attendance).
• Use interior streets for parking and follow temporary signage.
• Public transport: IntercityBus Line 07 (Arrecife–Máguez) stops in Mala. Check times before you go.

Cultural context

The festival blends devotion and folklore: a highly participatory romería, traditional music, contests and workshops for all ages. Mala’s agrarian and coastal identity is very present throughout the program.
