The Island League of Barquillos (5 m lateen sail) —also branded Liga Lanzarote La Isla Diferente (5 m)— resumes with a compact schedule in Arrecife (Marina Colón / Arrecife Bay). It’s a great chance to experience local sport and maritime culture up close.

When & where?

  • Venue: Marina Colón and Arrecife Bay (seafront promenade / Avenida Marítima).
  • Confirmed 2025 dates:

Regatta schedule

  • Sunday 28 September — 3rd & 4th regattas.
  • Sunday 5 October — 5th & 6th regattas.
  • Sunday 12 October — Break (no racing).
  • Sunday 19 October — 2nd, 7th & 8th regattas (triple day to recover a postponed heat).
  • Saturday 25 October — 9th & 10th regattas (season finale).

What to look for

The 5-metre barquillo is a traditional Canarian boat with a triangular lateen sail and multigenerational local crews. Expect highly technical manoeuvres close to shore and a welcoming community preserving this living heritage.

Spectator tips

  • Best viewpoints: the seafront along Marina Colón and sections of the Avenida Marítima overlooking the bay.
  • Times: starts are typically late morning and wind-dependent; check same-day notices.
  • Safety: follow marshals’ guidance and keep slipway/access areas clear.
