San Marcial del Rubicón 2026: Program and Día Grande in Femés

Femés is deep in its fiestas for San Marcial del Rubicón, Lanzarote’s patron saint, and the 2026 edition is entering its decisive stretch: this Saturday, July 4, brings both the return of the Transajaches and the Fiesta de la Pamela, and on Tuesday, July 7, the village celebrates its Día Grande with the solemn mass, the procession, and the 18th Encuentro de Solistas. If you can only make it to Femés once, either of those two days is worth the trip.

The Story So Far: From Julián Cáceres’s Opening Speech to the Big Week

The celebrations opened on Sunday, Jun 28, in the church of San Marcial with the pregón — the traditional opening address — delivered by Julián Cáceres Hernández, a Femés local famous for his calderas of chickpeas and goat meat, festival cooking in its purest form and the kind of dish we cover in our Canarian food guide. Joined by his son Jonatan before a packed church, Cáceres distilled the spirit of these fiestas into one wish: that Femés stays Femés, and that the word “pueblo” keeps meaning togetherness.

Since then, the Ayuntamiento de Yaiza’s program has strung together workshops, cooking contests, tastings, comedy, and music for all ages, with Pepe Benavente’s concert on Jul 2 and Friday’s Noche Joven as the standout stops.

Saturday, Jul 4: Transajaches and the Fiesta de la Pamela

This Saturday stacks two much-loved fixtures. First, the Transajaches, the popular sporting challenge returning to the Femés calendar after a seven-year absence. Then the Fiesta de la Pamela, San Marcial’s most recognizable open-air party, which this year brings Bourbon, Defecto Venturi, a Fito y Fitipaldis tribute, and Pandora. A pamela sun hat, light clothes, and no hurry whatsoever: that’s the dress code.

Tuesday, Jul 7: The Día Grande of Lanzarote’s Patron Saint

The heart of the fiestas arrives on Tuesday, Jul 7, the feast day of San Marcial. The solemn mass and procession move through the village with the Yaiza Municipal Band, met by the Timbayba folk group — the scene of faith, tradition, and folklore that draws neighbors and visitors from across the island to Femés every year. At 9:00 pm, the 18th Encuentro de Solistas closes the day with the show “Herederos,” featuring Iván Quintana, Ciro Corujo, José Manuel Ramos, and Almudena.
