The Lanzarote Cultural Agenda March 2026 ushers in spring with a month that never lets up: three municipalities stage their carnival celebrations, the La Grieta Theater Cycle fills Arrecife’s stages, Puerto del Carmen turns green for St. Patrick’s, and Sonidos Líquidos kicks off its Belingueo season. All of this while Holy Week appears on the horizon with Palm Sunday on March 29.

Lanzarote Carnival in March: Teguise, La Graciosa, Playa Blanca and Tinajo

March is the second big month of Carnival in Lanzarote. After February’s celebrations in Arrecife, Puerto del Carmen, San Bartolomé and Haría, the party moves to the center, north and south of the island with themes ranging from Mexican catrinas to the Gods of Olympus.

Teguise Carnival 2026: “México Lindo — Day of the Dead”

The municipality of Teguise rolls out two weeks of programming across Costa Teguise, the historic Villa de Teguise and La Graciosa, from March 2 to 15. This year’s allegory pays homage to Mexico’s Day of the Dead: catrinas, decorated skulls, papel picado and mariachis blend with the traditional Diabletes de Teguise in what promises to be one of the most visually striking editions in years.

Monday, March 2: Pasacalle Ritmo y Armonía in Costa Teguise featuring the Timanfeiros and Cumbacheros comparsas.
Tuesday 3 – Wednesday 4: Children’s and adult murga encounters at Pueblo Marinero and Plaza de Los Leones.
Thursday 5: Gran Gala Drag Queen at the Pueblo Marinero car park.
Friday 6: Traditional Carnival of Teguise with cultural groups from Lanzarote, Gran Canaria and Tenerife.
Saturday 7: Gran Coso del Carnaval (Grand Carnival Parade), 5:30 pm, Avda. Islas Canarias, Costa Teguise. Float procession with comparsas, murgas and batucadas followed by a street party with Sintonía Show, Ritmo Bakano, DJ Javi Fajardo and Rikabanda.
Sunday 8: Market Pasacalle (12:00 pm) and Daytime Carnival at Plaza de Los Leones (1:00 pm).

La Graciosa (March 9-15): The eighth island extends Teguise’s carnival with children’s workshops, Drag Gala (March 12), Queen’s Gala (March 13), Grand Parade (March 14) and Burial of the Sardine with a community barbecue and mariachis on March 15.

The official poster, “Serenata” by Luis Ángel Argota Martín, depicts a catrina dancing with a diablete-mariachi — the perfect fusion of the two traditions that bring this carnival to life.

Playa Blanca Carnival 2026: “Gods of Olympus”

Southern Lanzarote celebrates four days of carnival from March 12 to 15 under a Greek mythology allegory. The official poster “Olimpo en Yaiza” by designer Armando Arencibia Martín (selected from 15 entries) sets the visual tone for an edition promising togas, tridents and plenty of Olympian fantasy.

Thursday 12: Dog Carnival and children’s events.
Friday 13: Street party with Henry Méndez and his fusion of Latin rhythms, electronic and pop.
Saturday 14: Gran Coso del Carnaval (Grand Carnival Parade), 6:00 pm. Route from Playa Flamingo along Av. Canarias, calle Jaime Quesada and Av. Papagayo to Plaza del Carmen.
Sunday 15: Daytime Carnival with Canarian group Nueva Línea, the current sensation known for their viral version of “Noche de copas.”

Migratory whales pass through Canarian waters until the end of March, closing out the peak cetacean season.
