The Ayuntamiento de Tinajo presented the program for Los Dolores 2026, the fiestas of Lanzarote’s patron saint, on Monday. The pilgrimage to Mancha Blanca takes place on Saturday, September 12, starting earlier than in previous years and broadcast live by Televisión Canaria, and the fiestas close on Tuesday the 15th, a public holiday across the island, with the solemn morning Mass and a concert by Malú at night.

Dates and schedule

Wednesday 9 · 8:00 pm — Opening speech by Dr. María Teresa Godoy Suárez, director of the Tinajo health center, on behalf of the island’s public health workers. Followed by Calicanto and, at 9:30 pm, a concert by Grupo Bohemia.
Thursday 10 · 5:30 pm — Opening of the 37th Feria Insular de Artesanía, the island craft fair, in Mancha Blanca. At 8:00 pm, the inaugural concert of the Los Dolores chapel organ.
Friday 11 — Nanino Díaz Cutillas folk music encounter, with groups from several islands, Lanzarote and La Graciosa.
Saturday 12 — The pilgrimage-offering to the Virgen de los Dolores, starting earlier than in other years and broadcast by Televisión Canaria from 5:30 to 7:00 pm.
Tuesday 15 — Feast of Nuestra Señora de los Dolores, an island-wide holiday. Solemn Mass at 11:00 am on the chapel esplanade, presided over by Bishop José Mazuelos with auxiliary Bishop Cristóbal Déniz. At 9:00 pm, Malú in concert, followed by the closing fireworks.

Program and activities

The 2026 opening speech is the municipality’s tribute to the island’s health workers: Dr. Godoy delivers it on behalf of the entire Lanzarote health service. Around the main days, the program spreads almost two weeks of open-air dances, folk gatherings, workshops, children’s activities and sport between Tinajo and Mancha Blanca, with the traditional food stalls and the funfair running from the first week.

The 37th Feria Insular de Artesanía accompanies the fiestas from September 10 to 15, with more than 140 participants, all seven municipalities represented and Uruguay as guest country. Details in our story on the 2026 Craft Fair.

Location and how to get there

Everything happens in Mancha Blanca (Tinajo), around the Los Dolores chapel on the LZ-30 road between Tinajo and Tao. On pilgrimage day, arrive with plenty of time: the parking areas around the village fill up and the road slows from early afternoon; the most comfortable option is joining on foot from Tinajo itself.
