Fiera del Libro Lanzarote 2026: program, authors and schedule
The Fiera del Libro Lanzarote 2026 turns Arrecife into the island’s literary capital from May 7 to 10 with its fourth edition — the most ambitious yet. After three years travelling through Yaiza, Teguise and San Bartolomé, the island’s book fair arrives in the capital with a headline lineup featuring Juan José Millás, Máximo Huerta, Elísabet Benavent and Marta Jiménez Serrano, four days of author talks, workshops, music and performing arts, and a tribute to the late Arrecife-born writer Félix Hormiga. All events are free.

When and where
From Wednesday, May 7 to Saturday, May 10, 2026, spread across four cultural venues in central Arrecife: Parque Ramírez Cerdá (the main outdoor hub, with bookshop and publisher marquees), Casa de la Cultura Agustín de la Hoz, CIC El Almacén and the UNED Library. All activities are free to attend.
Featured authors
The Fiera del Libro Lanzarote 2026 lineup brings together leading names in Spanish literature alongside Canarian and local voices:
Juan José Millás presents Ese imbécil va a escribir una novela — one of the most celebrated figures in contemporary Spanish writing. Máximo Huerta arrives with Mamá está dormida, a novel about the things we silence and the things that never disappear. Elísabet Benavent, bestselling author with millions of readers, brings Una niña buena. Marta Jiménez Serrano presents Oxígeno, confirmation of one of the most powerful voices of her generation.
The program also features Pablo Rivero (La canguro), Fernando Bonete (La hija del Fénix), Sonia Moreno (Marruecos, el vecino incómodo), illustrator Óscar Alonso ’72 kilos’ (El pequeño libro de los abuelos), Carlos Magro and Tíscar Lara with an essay on AI and education, Canarian biologist Ignacio Romero (A merced del alisio), and Ana Belén Hormiga, daughter of the honoured writer, who will present Adiós papá, Félix Hormiga’s posthumous work.
Tribute to Félix Hormiga
The 2026 edition is dedicated to Lanzarote writer Félix Hormiga, who passed away recently after a lifetime spent chronicling Arrecife in his work. The tribute includes a ceremony at the opening event and the presentation of his posthumous book by his daughter. The fair also honours Agustín de La Hoz, on the centenary of his birth, and José Clavijo y Fajardo, marking 300 years since his birth in the Villa de Teguise.
Music at the Fiera: Sonidos Líquidos collaborates
The program goes beyond books. Sonidos Líquidos is collaborating with the book fair to bring two concerts to CIC El Almacén: Abraham Boba (frontman of León Benavente) presents 163 centímetros, an intimate show weaving poetry and autobiography, on Friday, May 8 at 8:30 pm. On Saturday, May 9, Fajardo closes the musical program at 8:30 pm. Both concerts are linked to the Cine Buñuel space within CIC El Almacén.
Beyond the books
The fair includes children’s workshops, performing arts, live illustration and a photobook, photography and wine pairing experience led by Rubén Acosta and Elisa Miralles (Saturday, May 9 at 12:30 pm, Casa de la Cultura — free with advance registration at [email protected]). The 2026 edition expands its schools program to two days of educational visits, reinforcing its commitment to bringing books to younger audiences.
Bookshops, publishers and cultural institutions will have exhibition and sales spaces at Parque Ramírez Cerdá throughout all four days.
