Wine Run Lanzarote 2026: Date, Races and Registration

The Wine Run Lanzarote is not an ordinary race. It is running — or walking, or trekking — between the volcanic stone walls that protect the vines of La Geria, the agricultural landscape the FAO has designated a Globally Important Agricultural Heritage System (GIAHS). The 14th edition takes place on June 13 and 14, 2026, with over 1,300 registered participants from 19 countries and spaces for 2,200. Registration closes June 7.

Wine Run Lanzarote 2026: three races, one landscape

The event adapts to every level. The long race covers roughly 23 kilometers through La Geria and its surroundings — a demanding course across one of the most singular agricultural landscapes on the planet. The short race and trek share a 12-kilometer route, more accessible but with the same scenery. And the Joëlette, an off-road wheelchair pushed by volunteers, ensures the event is genuinely for everyone — not as a slogan, but as a real commitment to inclusion.

All three main modalities start on Sunday, June 14: the long race at 8:30 am, the short race and trek at 9:30 am. The start point is near Uga, and the finish line is at the village’s fairground, where the race turns into a party.

Saturday: family, music and bib pickup

The weekend kicks off on Saturday, June 13 with the WineRun Kids, a children’s race starting at 11:00 am from the church in Uga. In the afternoon, the fairground opens for adult bib pickup (11:30 am to 7:00 pm) with live music and food throughout the day. It is the perfect warm-up: less competition, more atmosphere.

Sport, wine and protected landscape

What sets the Wine Run apart from any other sporting event in the Canary Islands is the terrain. La Geria is not a course designed for racing: it is an active agricultural landscape where thousands of zocos — the semicircular hollows dug into volcanic ash and shielded by dry-stone walls — shelter the vines that produce D.O. Lanzarote wines. Running here means crossing a system invented by generations of winemakers to farm on lava.

Part of the proceeds from the Wine Run goes toward cleaning and conserving this landscape, along with social inclusion initiatives. The event is organized by the Cabildo de Lanzarote, Yaiza Town Council and the D.O. Lanzarote Wine Regulatory Council — the three institutions directly responsible for the land and the product the race celebrates.
