The Lava Live Festival 2026 closed on July 25 with the strongest edition in its history. Four nights across two weekends — June 12-13 and July 24-25 — a purpose-built venue that debuted this year, and a lineup that ran from Leiva to Juan Luis Guerra. The third edition left Arrecife with something the island did not have before: a large-format summer festival that works, and that local audiences have claimed as their own.

June: Leiva, Hombres G and more than 12,000 people across two nights

The festival opened on Friday, June 12 with Leiva, who launched the closing leg of his Tour Gigante in Arrecife. He was joined by Iván Ferreiro, bringing his songwriting rooted in Galician indie, and Molotov, the Mexican rap-rock quartet that delivered the rawest set of the program. Local talent opened and closed the night: Los Callaos and sets by DJ Tali Arenao.

Saturday the 13th shifted gears entirely. Hombres G brought back the pop anthems of a whole generation — and the ones after it, who know them just as well. Ke Personajes arrived with Argentina’s cumbia phenomenon, La Cabra Mecánica added their streetwise rumba and La Tom Son rounded out the bill, with DJ Nandy Paredes covering the stage changes. Organizers put attendance across the first two nights at more than 12,000.

July: Juan Luis Guerra, Nicky Jam and Nathy Peluso

The second weekend came with its own separate lineup and the biggest name of the Lanzarote summer. Friday, July 24 was headlined by Juan Luis Guerra, the merengue and bachata legend with more than four decades on stage, joined by Ana Mena, Juanma Restrepo, Ventura, Lanzarote’s own Malpeis and Renzzo El Selector.

Saturday the 25th closed things out with Nicky Jam and Nathy Peluso, who presented her Club Grasa DJ Set, alongside Barry B, Rodrigo Fénix and Toni Bob.

Estadio Lava Live: the venue that changed the festival

The big change in 2026 was the space. The Estadio Lava Live, built on the esplanade next to the Cabildo de Lanzarote on Avenida Fred Olsen, replaced the previous year’s format with a site designed for 20,000 people per night, with better accessibility, circulation and stage visibility. For four nights, downtown Arrecife worked as an open-air stadium.

The festival also debuted BOKA, a food program created with chef Germán Blanco that brought zero-kilometer Lanzarote produce inside the venue. It was not the usual festival fast-food stand: it was the island’s kitchen inside the stadium.

The numbers behind the third edition

The evaluation study commissioned by organizers and carried out by Instituto Perfiles Canarias among 400 attendees aged 16 and over rated the overall experience at 9.5 out of 10, up from 9.1 in 2025. 95.3% of respondents said the experience beat what they had expected.

The most revealing figure is about whose festival this is. 78% of attendees live in Lanzarote, 18.5% traveled from other islands in the archipelago and 3.5% were tourists. And 46.5% were attending for the first time. In other words: Lava Live is not a tourism export product, it is an event local audiences have adopted and that keeps pulling in newcomers each year. The festival is produced by Grupo TSC with Preventos Media, with institutional backing from the Cabildo de Lanzarote through SPEL-Turismo Lanzarote, the Centros de Arte, Cultura y Turismo, the Ayuntamiento de Arrecife and the Gobierno de Canarias.

Dates: Friday June 12 and Saturday June 13; Friday July 24 and Saturday July 25, 2026.

Tickets: from €45 for a day pass, with separate lineups and separate sales per weekend.
Accessibility: the festival ran an Orange Point with services for people with reduced mobility, intellectual or sensory disabilities, and occasional support needs.

What comes next

Organizers have not announced 2027 dates yet. In previous years the announcement has followed shortly after the festival closes, so it is worth watching through the fall if this belongs in your summer plans.

In the meantime, Arrecife’s music summer does not end here. Arrecife en Vivo 2026 takes the city back in September and October with free open-air concerts across the historic center: the September 5 Gala, the September and October routes, and the Cantera closer on October 10.
