School improvements during summer break

Yaiza City Council is using the summer holidays to carry out improvement and preventative maintenance works at public schools in the south of the municipality. With a total investment of €140,000 from the municipal budget, these projects aim to ensure safety, accessibility, comfort, and proper circulation in the access and internal transit areas of the schools.

Mayor Óscar Noda stated that “the most significant works are being carried out this week in Playa Blanca, Yaiza, and Uga, fulfilling our commitments to the educational community for the benefit of children, teachers, and administrative staff.”

Works at Playa Blanca

At Playa Blanca Primary School, the existing pavement is being replaced with non-slip flooring across 340 square meters. This upgrade covers the main and rear entrances of the building, as well as the areas surrounding the school cafeteria and the attached nursery school. The goal is to improve user safety and facilitate movement in high-traffic areas.

Renovations at CEIP Uga

CEIP Uga is undergoing flooring renovations, including the porch, along with carpentry installation and other improvements. These works not only enhance the school’s safety conditions but also improve functionality, creating a more suitable environment for the daily development of educational activities.

Improvements at CEIP Yaiza

At Yaiza Primary School, the City Council is leveling the sports field and repairing the building’s walls. The works include demolition and removal of damaged elements, ground leveling and compacting, and the installation of concrete slabs and curbs. Mayor Óscar Noda, accompanied by Education Councilor Silvia Santana, visited the site this week to review the progress.

General maintenance and other projects

All schools in the municipality are receiving maintenance work, including painting, plumbing, carpentry, and electrical repairs. In Playa Blanca, requests have also been made for the repair of deteriorated roofs.

Additionally, the City Council is continuing renovations at the Las Breñas and Femés schools to enable the introduction of cafeteria services, fulfilling a prior commitment to the educational community and expanding support for local families.
