Lanzarote in July is the island at full throttle. Summer stops rehearsing: the heat is real, the sea is finally warm, the villages string together patron-saint fiestas, and the capital runs its concert season. It’s the liveliest month of the year — and the busiest, so it pays to arrive with bookings made and half a plan in hand. July Weather: Stable Summer, Trade Winds in the Background

July is one of the driest, brightest months of the year. Daytime highs: 28–30 °C (82–86 °F). Nighttime lows: 20–21 °C (68–70 °F). Sea temperature: 21–22 °C (70–72 °F) — swimming stops being an act of courage. Rain simply doesn’t show up. The secret to the heat staying pleasant is the trade winds, the northeasterly breeze that cools the island almost daily; when it drops and the calima blows in from Africa, the thermometer can jump for two or three days. Nothing that shade, water, and patience won’t solve.

The Big Fiesta Month

San Marcial del Rubicón, every July 7. Lanzarote’s patron saint is celebrated in Femés with the oldest fiesta in the archipelago: the solemn mass, the procession, and a week of verbenas and tradition high above the Rubicón plain. The full history is in our guide to San Marcial del Rubicón.

The Fiestas del Carmen, from July 16. The patron saint of sailors moves across the island in a staggered sequence over several weeks: La Villa de Teguise, La Graciosa, Playa Blanca, Puerto del Carmen, and several coastal quarters carry the Virgin out to sea in maritime processions with the fleets decked out. And the summer music. July concentrates the capital’s festival season: open-air concerts, the Canarian jazz festival that calls at the island and La Graciosa every year, and the verbenas of every patron-saint fiesta. Beaches and Sea: The Best of July

With the sea warm and the days long, July opens the best swimming season. The Papagayo coves are at their peak; the resort beaches of Puerto del Carmen, Costa Teguise, and Playa Blanca deliver the classic family July; and La Graciosa — usually mid-Carmen-fiesta on top of everything — is the day trip of the month: ferry from Órzola, beach, fresh fish, and back. Plans That Work Especially Well in July

Timanfaya first thing. In high summer, the National Park is best before midday: shorter lines, less heat, and low light raking across the Fire Mountains.

Book ahead: July is high season — rental cars, Timanfaya, and La Graciosa excursions sell out.
Take sun protection seriously: the July sun is unforgiving, and the trade wind disguises the heat.
Bring a light layer for the evening: verbenas run late and the night breeze cools down.
Skip midday hikes: trails and volcanoes are for first thing or last light.
