The Lanzarote International Film Festival (FICL) has opened submissions for its 2026 edition. Entries are online only and the deadline is January 1, 2026. The Goya-qualifying festival will run in Arrecife from May 14–23, 2026.

Key dates

  • Submission deadline: January 1, 2026
  • Official selection announcement: before April 20, 2026
  • Delivery of selected materials: by April 10, 2026
  • Festival: May 14–23, 2026

Sections & maximum duration

  • Spanish National Fiction: up to 25 min
  • International Fiction: up to 25 min
  • Animation: up to 25 min
  • Documentary: up to 30 min
  • Canarian Shorts: up to 25 min (meet ≥1 Canaries criterion)
  • Children’s Shorts: up to 15 min (for ages 3–17; Spanish original or dubbed)

Eligibility & technical requirements

  • Production year: works made in 2025 (Children’s section also admits 2024).
  • Delivery formats: .mov or .mp4 file (min 1080p; H.264/H.265 recommended).
  • Subtitles:
    • Spanish dialogue → include English subs
    • English dialogue → include Spanish subs
    • Other languages → include Spanish & English subs (double-subbing)

    The festival offers a subtitling service for €10 if needed.

Canarian section: criteria (meet ≥1)

  • Director resident in the Canary Islands
  • Director born in the Canary Islands
  • At least 50% of the shoot in the Canary Islands
  • Producer with tax domicile in the Canary Islands
  • ≥50% of the crew resident in the Canary Islands

How to submit (online only)

Pre-registration is done exclusively online via one of the platforms below and by completing all requested info:

Note: send the final cut. Platform fees are borne by filmmakers and do not guarantee selection.

Selection, jury & awards

  • Pre-selection of up to 30 shorts per section.
  • Prize per section: €1,500 (Children’s: no cash prize; kids’ audience vote selects the winner).
  • Goya-qualifying: FICL collaborates with the Spanish Academy for pre-selection in Best Spanish Fiction Short and Best Documentary Short.

Quick tips (to avoid disqualification)

  • Double-check runtime and production year before uploading.
  • Provide the correct subtitles (ES/EN) as required.
  • Do not re-edit after sending; deliver the final file.
  • Prepare stills, a short synopsis and credits for the selected-films stage.
