The Romería de Los Dolores 2025 brought thousands of pilgrims to Mancha Blanca on Saturday, September 13, in honor of the Virgen de los Dolores, patron saint of Lanzarote. The feast day itself fell on Monday the 15th, a public holiday across the island, with the solemn Mass at the chapel. It closed two weeks of fiestas in Tinajo.

When and where it took place

The pilgrimage set out on the afternoon of Saturday, September 13, 2025, with walkers arriving on foot from across the island at the Mancha Blanca chapel in Tinajo, where offerings — non-perishable goods, at the organizers’ request — were laid at the feet of the Virgin. The Baile del Romero, the pilgrims’ dance, brought the music the following day, and on Monday the 15th, the feast of Nuestra Señora de los Dolores, the solemn Mass closed the religious program.

The 2025 edition

The fiestas filled the first two weeks of September. The opening speech, on Tuesday the 9th, was delivered by CD Tinajo on its 50th anniversary, with performances by Ciro Corujo, Adrián Niz and Alexis Lemes. The 36th Feria Insular de Artesanía, the island craft fair, opened on Wednesday the 10th in Mancha Blanca, and the program spread open-air dances, folk music, comedy, sport and children’s activities across Tinajo and Mancha Blanca, with the traditional food stalls running from the first days.

The tradition
